“Wherever you are, if you are following your bliss, you are enjoying that refreshment, that life within you, all the time. When you can see that, you begin to meet people who are in the field of your bliss, and they open doors for you. I say, follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be..” Joseph Campbell
I understand that some people feel uncomfortable with the word bliss so I often use the word PASSION! For me, following and being absorbed in these pursuits has been the most significant aspect of my recovery and flourishing with bipolar disorder.
I hope to use this show to discuss every aspect of mental illness and most significantly to contribute to re-imagining and re-creating how the world perceives mental illness and more importantly how those of us with these diagnoses perceive our selves. A major component of this reformation is introducing alternative methods of treatment and recovery as adjuncts and possibly replacements for medications.
Some of the tools I’ve used are meditation, contemplation, personal growth systems, brain entrainment, creativity and there is so much more. If you’d like to learn more, please check my blog – especially the post on Transforming Bipolar Disorder Into A Blessing and my friend Alice’s article, Mental Illness as a Spiritual Path.
